Inmate escapes Darwin prison precinct in hi-viz and a buggy

Police say Shaun Liddle escaped from the horticultural work area of the prison precinct.

A prisoner working in a horticultural section of the Darwin jail has used a buggy to escape the facility.

Northern Territory Police said Shaun Liddle drove away from the prison at Holtze just before 2:00pm on Friday.

He was last seen driving the green Polaris buggy on Willard Road towards Gunn Point Road.

Police told members of the public not to approach Liddle if he was seen.

They said Liddle was wearing a hi-viz yellow work shirt, dark blue shorts, a tan-coloured bucket hat and black sunglasses.

Anyone who saw Liddle was asked to contact police or CrimeStoppers.
