Inmate dies in Dublin prison as Gardai probe 'all circumstances' into death

Gardai are investigating the death of an inmate in a Dublin prison.

The incident happened at Cloverhill Prison in Clondalkin.

The male inmate passed away on Saturday afternoon.

The exact cause of death has not yet been released.

Officers said a post mortem will be carried out to determine how the investigation will proceed.

It is understood that the Irish Prison Service is also investigating the death.

A spokesman said: "Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the death of a male inmate at Cloverhill Prison yesterday afternoon, 28th September 2020.

"A Post Mortem is due to take place which will determine the course of the investigation."
