Inmarsat falls on Russian sanction worries

Inmarsat shares have been coming down to earth on fears the sanctions against Russia over Ukraine could hit its satellite launch programme.

The company has launches of its GlobalXpress satellite planned on Russian Proton rockets through Russian-owned International Launch Services, and its shares fell as much as 9% on worries the increasingly tougher stance against Moscow could cause delays for the company.

In response Inmarsat - which received much publicity for its role in tracking the missing Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 - has told Reuters there was no change in the scheduling of its launches. It said the Satellite Industry Association had advised the company that only launches boosting Russia's military capability would be affected, and Inmarsat's satellite was not in that category.

Its shares are currently 29p or 3.7% lower at 733.5p.
