This week we celebrate inkl's 3rd birthday! To mark the occasion we’ve rounded up the most-read articles and topics from the last year. What follows is a stellar collection of must-read stories so if you haven’t already read these, you may want to now.
Looking at the top Lead Stories over the last year, several themes emerge. Readers the world over were most fascinated by the deaths of influential people (Avicii and Hawking), Trump, terrorism and destruction. Taking second place is the story of draconian laws in Dubai that saw a British tourist jailed. Business and technology rank high among our readers’ interests and Tesla, at the intersection of the two, claimed third place with the announcement of their greatest ever quarterly loss. While Russia has been in the news for all kinds of reasons this year, the most read Russia story by our readers concerned 400kg of cocaine found in its embassy in Argentina.
In Editor’s Picks you were most fascinated by extinct and near extinct animals, what people say on their deathbeds, science and evolution, UFO intelligence and biological warfare.
As a consequence of being serious news coverage, our highest-ranking stories are often times negative. But over in Good News, you were reading stories of revival for extinct and near-extinct animals, debunking ageing myths, improving the quality and longevity of life, technology and — more unpredictably — religious freedoms for a Thor-worshipping US soldier who wanted to keep his facial hair.
And over in My Topics, you followed coverage on technology, blockchains, climate change, Trump and Asia’s leading lights. If you haven’t already, you can follow a topic by tapping on any of the topics displayed at the end of an article, then tap '+ Follow' on the topic page which appears. You can follow as many topics as you like. It's a great way to get more out of inkl.
If we’ve learnt anything from the last year it’s that you really like hard news, the environment, technology and business. And animals! At inkl we hope to keep pushing you beyond your filter-bubble, and make sure you have the biggest stories from the world’s best publishers at hand.
If you haven’t already, you can join the inkl family here for as little as $10 for 100 articles (with no monthly recurring fees). Whether you’ve been with us for a minute or since the beginning, thank you for your support.
Thanks and stay informed,
Adam & Holly.
