'Injustice 3' Leak Points to Sequel Being Developed by Ed Boon's NetherRealm Studios

A new leak has claimed that a new "Injustice" game is on the way. Specifically, it points to "Injustice 3" being the game in the works.

The leak likewise claims that Ed Boon's NetherRealm Studios, the team behind modern "Mortal Kombat" games, would remain as the developer to deliver the sequel to the brutal fighting game.

'Injustice 3' Leak Revives Sequel Rumors

According to a report by MP1st, an artist for Warner Bros. Games stated in their resume that they have worked on games like "Injustice 3," "Hogwarts Legacy 2," and two more unannounced projects in their tenure under the studio.

It can be recalled that last year, a "MultiVersus" dataminer teased they found evidence supporting "Injustice 3." The rumor was then corroborated by two of the game's voice actors, George Newbern and Phil LaMarr, who voiced Superman and Green Lantern, respectively. They confirmed to a fan at a convention that they were both working on "Injustice 3."

The latest discovery also follows hints from DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn, who previously said that they are discussing new DC games to be developed over at NetherRealm Studios and Rocksteady Studios.

Ed Boon's NetherRealm Rumored to be Developing Sequel

ComicBook Gaming reported that NetherRealm's Ed Boon has long hinted that he is interested in developing "Injustice 3" under the studio. In 2024, Boon revealed that NetherRealm Studios has been working on a project for three years already, which is now speculated to be the sequel game of the "Injustice" franchise.

As previously mentioned, NetherRealm Studios is best known for its work for "Mortal Kombat." The previous timeline between "Mortal Kombat 11" and "Mortal Kombat 1" was four years. This suggests that if "Injustice 3" is real, NetherRealm could officially announce it before 2026 ends, with a potential release date by 2027.

That said, there are still no confirmations from WB Games and NetherRealm Studios about the existence or development of "Injustice 3."
