Injury update: Ryan Yates travels to Greece with Nottingham Forest to receive best possible treatment

Ryan Yates has travelled with the Nottingham Forest squad to Athens to receive treatment on his injury.

The midfielder is understood to have a minor knee problem, which the Reds are keen to address before the start of the season.

Forest remain positive that Yates will be ready for the start of the new season.

Yates was left out of the official travelling party for the training camp in Greece, where Sabri Lamouchi’s side have notched up a comfortable 3-0 win over Atromitos - and will face Olympiacos on Tuesday night.

But the club were keen to ensure he continues to receive the best possible care for his injury, with the Forest physio staff who have travelled with the rest of the players to Athens.

Joao Carvalho, who has an ankle ligament injury, has not travelled with the rest of the group, as he looks to recuperate, with the 15m euro man expected to return to training at some time before the big kick-off, against West Brom.

The former Portugal under-21 international, 22, may need a little longer to gain full match fitness, but the Reds are hopeful that the problem will not hamper the impact he has on the Championship this season.

Yohan Benalouane also has a hip problem, which is not understood to be serious, although the former Leicester City player was also left out of the official travelling party for the Greek training camp.
