Injury update, first league start and late leveller - Every word Sabri Lamouchi said after Nottingham Forest draw

Sabri Lamouchi wasn’t quite able to mark his new Nottingham Forest contract with three points on the Reds’ return to action.

A last-minute equaliser denied the visitors victory at Hillsborough as Sheffield Wednesday snatched a 1-1 draw.

Joe Lolley had opened the scoring in the second half with a lovely goal, only for Connor Wickham to head home in added time.

It was Forest’s first run-out since March as the Championship got back underway, following a three-month suspension due to the coronavirus crisis.

Here’s what the Reds head coach had to say after the game.

What are your thoughts on the performance and the result?

“In the first half we missed patience and made some mistakes. But it was much better in the second half.

“It was a fantastic goal from Lolley and when you look like getting a result until a few minutes from the end of the game, you are disappointed.

“We are disappointed at the end because it is not easy to score first here. It is not easy to keep the result here.

“But after three months, it is logical what happened here.

“We just need to work for next week and give more importance to the small details.

“But after three or four games, I think we will be much better.”

Was that down to a lack of match sharpness?

“No, I don’t think so. When you are a little bit tired and you make some changes, we lost the position in the corner and we could have avoided that corner.

“We made some mistakes before and we gave them some chances. Brice made one lovely stop, and Joe Worrall as well with a block.

“I’m disappointed for the players.

“To run and to fight, like they did today, of course it would be much better with three points, but it is like that.”

Did Samba Sow and Ben Watson miss out through injury?

“Because we have a lot of games to play, we don’t want to take a risk.

“It was a little bit of a risk and short on time

“They will be ready for the next one, for sure.”

Did Brice Samba have a knock - he didn’t take all of the goal-kicks?

“After three months (without playing), he felt something in his left leg and he didn’t want to take a risk. So we asked Tobias and Joe Worrall to take the kicks.”

How do you think Brennan Johnson did on his first league start?

“He did good.

“He can do much better than that, but it was not easy for him to come in and play in this way.

“But he did well.

“He is young and he has quality. He created a big chance in the second half. He did well.”

Congratulations on your new contract, how happy are you to have signed a new deal?

"I am happy to be staying at this club and to try to achieve our goal.

“Unfortunately we couldn’t celebrate with the three points, but maybe next week, I hope."
