Injury update as St Mirren striker Cody Cooke edges closer to comeback

Long-term absentee Cody Cooke took another step closer to a return to action for St Mirren this week.

The 26-year-old has missed the entire Premiership campaign so far this season after picking up a serious knee injury during the Buddies League Cup clash with Albion Rovers.

But St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin revealed the striker is closer than ever to getting back on the pitch soon after rejoining training at Ralston.

He said: “Cody has started back at training. He joined in with the passing on Wednesday and did the full session on Thursday morning.

“It was unfortunate with the injury, but he’s worked really hard and showed a great attitude in the last 10 or 12 weeks to get himself fit and he’s now back in the fold.

“He’s another attacking option, but he’s still a little bit away from being back in the squad because we need to make sure we don’t put too much pressure on him to rush him back.

"We’ll try to get him in a couple of reserve games next week and then hopefully get him joined in properly with the lads towards the end of this month.”
