Injury to Jonathan Allen is not serious; not ruled out vs. Cowboys yet

Redskins defensive lineman Jonathan Allen left the game against the Philadelphia Eagles in the first half on Sunday, and after he went down, Washington’s defense started to fall apart.

Allen’s knee injury suffered in the game was said to just be a grade 1 sprain, and Redskins’ coach Jay Gruden confirmed on Wednesday that it was nothing too serious. He even went as far as to say that Allen could potentially play this week, but they are waiting on a second medical opinion.

If Allen could return in Week 3 at the very latest, the Redskins will avoid a serious hindrance to their defense as they get their star player back. The defense was notably worse without Allen on the field last Sunday, so the more games he spends out there, the better.
