Injury to A-list co-star cost Hayden Panettiere role in hit 2000s thriller

  • Panettiere's role was subsequently given to Kristen Stewart, who later gained widespread fame for her part in the Twilight franchise.
  • Years after the film's release, Panettiere learned from her former manager that the actual reason for her dismissal was her mother's refusal to allow the director to cut Panettiere's hair to match Jodie Foster's bob.
