Injury Report: Warriors rookie James Wiseman (wrist) set to miss another 7-10 days

After missing five consecutive games due to a sprained wrist, James Wiseman will continue to be sidelined for the Golden State Warriors. The 2020 No. 2 overall draft pick suffered his wrist injury on Jan. 30 against the Detroit Pistons.

Prior to Golden State’s tip-off against the Orlando Magic on Monday, Steve Kerr told reporters the young center is still dealing with pain in his injured wrist. Although Wiseman’s wrist is recovering, the 19-year-old center won’t be available until his pain dwindles, per Kerr.

He had imaging done yesterday, which came out fine. He’s healing. Unfortunately, he still has pain. As long as there is pain in the wrist, we have to keep him back. We just have to watch him over the next week and see how he does. Hopefully, the pain will subside. Basically, the doctor does not want him on the court as long as there is pain. We’ll give him some time. We’ll see how long that will be.

The Warriors will reevaluate Wiseman’s injury in 7-10 days. During that span, the Warriors are slated for five games, including matchups against the Brooklyn Nets and the Eastern Conference champion Miami Heat.

Until Wiseman or Kevon Looney can return to the rotation, Golden State will feature a small-ball lineup. With Wiseman out, Kerr and the Warriors will continue to lean on Draymond Green and Juan Toscano-Anderson in the frontcourt.
