Injury Report: Warriors’ Kelly Oubre Jr. (wrist) out vs. Timberwolves on Thursday

To start the Golden State Warriors’ final road swing of the 2020-21 season, Kelly Oubre Jr. will be sidelined with a sore wrist injury.

Oubre Jr. missed five consecutive games after a rough fall on a dunk attempt against the Washington Wizards in early April. According to Steve Kerr, Oubre Jr. re-injured his wrist on Tuesday in an ugly loss to the Dallas Mavericks.

Despite re-injuring his wrist, Oubre Jr. finished the contest against the Mavericks with 10 points on 2-of-10 shooting from the floor in 23 minutes off the bench.

Since returning from his initial wrist injury, Oubre Jr. has shifted into a featured role in Golden State’s second unit. In five games, the explosive wing is averaging 17 points on 43.9% shooting from the field with 5.4 rebounds in 29.1 minutes per contest off the bench.

While the Warriors will be missing Oubre Jr., Kent Bazemore is expected to return on Thursday against the T-Wolves. Bazemore has missed the last three games in the NBA’s COVID-19 health and safety protocol.

Without Oubre Jr., the Warriors will have Mychal Mulder, Jordan Poole and Juan Toscano-Anderson as options to play off the bench behind Bazemore and Steph Curry.
