Injury Report: Kevon Looney (sprained ankle) to be re-evaluated in two weeks

On Tuesday night against the Boston Celtics, the Golden State Warriors added another injury to their depleted frontcourt. With Marquese Chriss recovering from a broken leg and James Wiseman already sidelined for 7-10 days due to a sprained wrist, Kevon Looney exited the contest in the second quarter against the Celtics after rolling his ankle.

An MRI later confirmed Looney suffered a sprained ankle that will sideline the former first-rounder for at least two weeks. The Warriors announced Looney’s ankle injury would be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Following Tuesday’s injury, the Golden State Warriors will officially be without a traditional center until Wiseman or Looney make their return to the lineup.

Over the next seven games, Steve Kerr will have to get creative with his frontcourt rotation. While Draymond Green and Eric Paschall could see expanded roles, Juan Toscano-Anderson will likely get a heavy increase in minutes.

After Looney left the game on Tuesday, Kerr deployed Toscano-Anderson as Golden State’s small-ball center. In 27 minutes off the bench, the Bay Area native tallied 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field with two boards against Boston.

Golden State will begin their run of games without a center on Thursday against the Dallas Mavericks.
