Injury Report: Kelly Oubre Jr. (wrist) to be re-evaluated when Warriors return to San Francisco after road trip

During the Golden State Warriors’ final road swing of the 2020-21 season, Kelly Oubre Jr. has been on the sideline.

While attempting a dunk against the Washington Wizards on April 9, Oubre Jr. crashed to the floor in a brutal fall that caused him to miss five consecutive games with a wrist injury. Oubre Jr. appeared back in Golden State’s rotation after a five-game absence, but he returned to the injury report after three games with the same lingering injury.

During Golden State’s current road trip, Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Oubre Jr. suffered a torn ligament in his wrist and a fracture on his palm. However, it’s still unclear how much time the explosive Warriors wing will miss.

Prior to Golden State’s contest against the New Orleans Pelicans, Steve Kerr said Oubre Jr.’s injury would be re-evaluated when the team returns to San Francisco after their current road trip.

During his first season in the Bay Area, Oubre Jr. is averaging 15.4 points on 43.9% shooting from the floor with six rebounds and 1.3 assists and one steal per game.

Prior to his injury, the Kansas product shifted into a role in the second unit, tallying 17 points on 43.9% shooting from the field with 5.4 rebounds in 29.1 minutes per contest off the bench.

Golden State is currently sitting at the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference playoff standings with seven games remaining on the schedule.
