After a blowout loss to the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday, the Golden State Warriors will have the chance to bounce back after two days off with a tilt against the Portland Trail Blazers.
However, Golden State will have to do it without Kelly Oubre Jr. Prior to tip-off, the Warriors ruled out Oubre Jr. in Portland with a sprained left wrist injury.
According to Steve Kerr, the shooting guard suffered the injury to his left wrist during a team scrimmage at practice in Los Angeles on Tuesday. Kerr called the injury “scary,” telling reporters in a pregame video conference that Oubre Jr. is sore on Wednesday.

His sprained wrist comes after an impressive month of basketball from Oubre Jr. During February, the Kansas product averaged 20.3 points on 50.2% shooting from the field with 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 assists in the month of February. After a rough start from long distance, Oubre Jr. improved from beyond the arc, shooting 43% on 5.7 attempts per contest.
With Oubre Jr. sidelined, Kerr has opted to start Kent Bazemore against Portland. The veteran guard is averaging 6.5 points on 49.4% shooting from the field with three rebounds and 1.6 assists in 33 games with Golden State in the 2020-21 campaign.
Golden State is slated to open the first game of a road back-to-back in Portland at 7 p.m. PST in the Pacific Northwest.
