Injury report following eighth day of Chiefs training camp

The Kansas City Chiefs had their eighth open training camp practice of the season on Sunday.

There was one new addition to the injury report at the start of practice and that was WR Tyreek Hill. If you’ll recall, Hill was injured in a collision with CB Bashaud Breeland several practices ago. Hill returned to practice for two days, but today he received an off day to promote healing in his quad. The Chiefs are being cautious with their star player here, as they should be.

As for rookie CB Rashad Fenton, who missed practice yesterday with an unexplained absence. The Chiefs clarified today that he’s been excused from practice for a personal reason. It’s not yet clear when he’ll return to practice.

Here’s a look at all the players that didn’t practice on Sunday:

  • DE Tim Ward – NFI
  • LB Darius Harris – NFI
  • WR Gehrig Dieter – Back spasms
  • S Jordan Lucas – Hamstring
  • RB Damien Williams – Hamstring
  • LB Damien Wilson – Knee
  • CB Rashad Fenton – Excused from practice
  • WR Tyreek Hill – Quad

There were a few injuries that took place in a very short span of practice today and they all occurred along the defensive line. Both Alex Okafor and Emmanuel Ogbah left the practice field with injury and did not return. Following practice the Chiefs said that Okafor was dealing with a sore hip and that Ogbah had an oblique injury. Ogbah’s oblique injury is something to monitor as those can linger is they’re more than a minor strain. Third-year DE Tanoh Kpassagnon replaced both Okafor and Ogbah at defensive end after they each left with injury.
