Injury report following 12th day of Chiefs training camp

The Kansas City Chiefs are back in St. Joseph, Missouri after the first week of preseason play.

Following the game against the Bengals they’ve got some new injuries they’re dealing with, along with some old injuries. We’d already heard about John Lovett’s shoulder separation as he left the game with injury. Andy Reid briefly mentioned a knee issue for Davon Grayson following the game, but did not provide much clarity today. It’s not clear how serious that injury is for Grayson.

Xavier Williams has been dealing with a back issue during the course of training camp.

Here’s a look at all the players who didn’t practice today:

  • DE Tim Ward – NFI
  • LB Darius Harris – NFI
  • WR Gehrig Dieter – Back
  • WR Davon Grayson – Knee
  • TE John Lovett – Shoulder
  • DT Xavier Williams – Back
  • CB D’Montre Wade – Knee Contusion

Alex Okafor did return to practice briefly today, but was taken out of practice as a precaution. The Chiefs are doing whatever they can to get Okafor’s hip feeling right. Frank Clark was also back at practice for the entirety of the day.

The new injury that is a bit mysterious is the knee contusion for Wade. He left the game early over the weekend after being ejected for a helmet-to-helmet hit. There was no indication that he’d been injured at all, so it’s curious as to when this injury may have occurred. It doesn’t bode well for his roster chances if he can’t get back on the field soon.

We’ll see what happens when the Chiefs get back out there tomorrow for another practice.
