Injury report: Daniel Theis to return to the court vs. Bucks

After being listed as questionable on Tuesday, Boston Celtics center Daniel Theis has had his injury status upgraded and will now be available against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday (per NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg).

Theis originally sprained his ankle against the Toronto Raptors on Oct. 25 and would soldier on through the rest of the game before missing Boston’s next game, which came against the New York Knicks on Oct. 26.

His return bolsters Boston’s center rotation, which will see the veteran center Enes Kanter. Kanter will miss his third consecutive game after the big man was listed as out the Bucks on Tuesday.

Theis has averaged just 2.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game but he’s been solid on the defensive end, averaging 1.5 blocks in just 12.5 minutes per game.

His awareness and technique on the defensive end may be the best of each of the teams nominal centers, which has led to him being a starter in one of the two contests he’s played in. However, the emergence of rookie forward Grant Williams as a small-ball center could result in some of Theis’ minutes being sapped once Kanter returns to the lineup.
