Injury Report: D’Angelo Russell (quad) questionable for Timberwolves vs. Warriors on Jan. 25

Prior to landing with the Minnesota Timberwolves at the trade deadline last season, D’Angelo Russell spent a 33 game stint in the Bay Area with the Golden State Warriors.

During his time at the top of Steve Kerr’s rotation, Russell averaged 23.6 points on 43% shooting from the field with 6.2 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 32.1 minutes per contest.

On Monday, Russell will have his first opportunity to return to San Francisco’s Chase Center for a contest against his former team. However, the former All-Star guard is dealing with an injury. Prior to Monday’s contest, Russell is listed as questionable with a right quad contusion. Russell was sidelined during Minnesota’s win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday.

Russell is averaging 20.5 points on 43.2% shooting from the field with 5.5 assists and three rebounds and 1.4 steals in 30.7 minutes through 14 games in the 2020-21 season.

Juan Hernangómez and Karl-Anthony Towns have already been ruled out against the Warriors due to the league’s health and safety protocols.

The Warriors will open a two-game back-to-back swing against the Timberwolves on Monday at 7 p.m. PST.
