Injury Report: Celtics’ Marcus Smart (calf strain) out vs. Warriors on Tuesday

On Tuesday night at Chase Center, both the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics will be without key pieces due to injury.

While James Wiseman is set to miss his first game of the season after spraining his wrist on Saturday against the Detroit Pistons, the Celtics will be without point guard Marcus Smart due to a grade one calf strain.

Smart suffered the calf injury in the fourth quarter against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night. Prior to his injury against the Lakers, Smart tallied double-figures in scoring in eight consecutive contests. The Oklahoma State product is averaging 13.1 points on 39.4% shooting from the field with 6.1 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game.

With Smart on the injury report, Boston will likely deploy Kemba Walker, Jeff Teague and rookie Aaron Nesmith in the backcourt. The trio of guards will be tasked to slow down Steph Curry.

Golden State’s point guard has notched 26 or more points in six of his last eight games. Without their defensive stalwart, Curry and the Warriors could take advantage in the backcourt.

The Warriors are slated to welcome the Celtics to Chase Center on Tuesday at 7 p.m. PST.
