Injury news: Nick Foles ruled OUT with left shoulder injury

The Jacksonville Jaguars’ first touchdown of the regular season was a beautiful one but it came at a cost.

While dropping back to deliver a nice 35-yard touchdown to receiver DJ Chark, a Kansas City Chiefs defender landed on veteran quarterback Nick Foles after pressuring him, sending the veteran to the locker room to be evaluated.

Not too soon after, he was declared OUT for the game with a left shoulder injury.

Taking Foles’ place will be rookie quarterback Gardner Minshew, who the Jags drafted No. 178 overall in April’s draft.

Minshew started in three preseason games for the Jags this summer going 54-of-96 for 468 passing yards. While he didn’t register a touchdown, he also didn’t throw an interception. Additionally, the experience likely has made him more battle tested than your average rookie sixth-rounder. However, he’ll have an uphill battle to overcome as the Jags are currently down 10-17.
