Injury news: Jags LB Leon Jacobs carted off with knee injury vs. Dolphins

The Jacksonville Jaguars have gotten off to a rough start for Thursday Night Football as the Miami Dolphins were able to go up by a score of 14-0 in the first quarter of the game. If that wasn’t a bad enough start, they also sustained an injury on the defensive side as linebacker Leon Jacobs had to be carted off with a right knee injury during the first drive.

The injury occurred when Jacobs was engaged with tight end Durham Smythe and the Dolphins’ other tight end for the play, Adam Shaheen, came in to help for a double team. The blow from Shaheen caused Jacobs to go down and not too soon after, trainers were helping load him up on a cart. Jacobs was later declared OUT and Cassius Marsh took his place.

Linebacker is a spot where most felt the Jags were strong during training camp and now their depth will be tested. So far, it’s been a rough go for the veteran as he allowed an end-around that resulted in a huge gain for Miami. Still, there is a lot of time for him to get situated as the game just reached the second quarter.
