Injury latest on Rodri and David Silva as Man City squad to face Liverpool becomes clear

Liverpool and Manchester City face off in the hotly anticipated top of the table Premier League clash at Anfield on Sunday with both aiming for the domestic crown.

Firstly though, both sides have Champions League matches to contend with as the Reds host Genk on Tuesday night before City travel to face Atalanta on Wednesday.

Ahead of the European matches, both clubs hosted an open training session which provided the chance to see who was missing and who would therefore be likely to be available this weekend.

Pep Guardiola confirms David Silva might miss Liverpool clash

City midfielder Rodri has been out of action since their home game against Atalanta when he pulled up with a hamstring problem and Pep Guardiola had ruled him out until after the next international break.

The summer signing came out with his teammates but did not take part in the full session, simply knocking the ball around and stretching before going back inside.

It looks unlikely he will be available for City's next match and could be ruled out of the battle with Liverpool too in order to give him sufficient time to recover.

David Silva meanwhile was missing completely for the training session and is expected to miss both City's matches against Atalanta and Liverpool after he complained of a muscle problem towards the end of the first half against Southampton last weekend.

Oleksandr Zinchenko was not at the session as he continues to recover from surgery on his knee while long term absentees Leroy Sane and Aymeric Laporte are still unavailable.
