Bolton Wanderers are awaiting the results of a scan to learn the extent of the injury picked up by winger Xavier Amaechi.
The 20-year-old limped off in midweek after 20 minutes of the pre-season friendly victory over Preston North End, which Wanderers won 1-0 thanks to a strike from Gethin Jones.
Amaechi was later seen on crutches and wearing a protective boot, with manager Ian Evatt confirming that the Hamburg loanee had suffered an injury suspected to be affecting one of his metatarsals.

Speaking this afternoon ahead of the pre-season trip to Barrow this weekend, Evatt said that Wanderers are still waiting to hear the results of the scan and a consultant's thoughts on it.
But Wanderers have had a slight boost with news that striker Eoin Doyle is now out of quarantine having completed 10 days of isolation due to testing positive for coronavirus and is available for the clash against the Bluebirds.
Of Amaechi, Evatt said: "“There’s no update. We’re waiting on the consultant reading the scan. We should have the answers at some point today. He’s slightly better but still very sore so we’re still waiting to hear really.
“We’re just following protocols and we’re doing the best we can. Eoin is back in today. He’s much better.
"Obviously when you’ve had 10 days off it can be difficult to get back up to speed and up to speed straight away, but he’s fine and available for Saturday.”
Another player who had previously tested positive for the virus is winger Dennis Politic, but was absent from Tuesday's pre-season friendly against North End.
He has now ended 10 days of self isolation and is now backing in training, trying to get himself back to the fitness levels he had prior to that period.
Evatt said: “He’s out and he’s back training. Obviously he’s trying to get himself back up to where he was prior to the quarantine, but physically there’s no effect really.
"He’s recovered really well. It’s just about now building up the strength in his legs again and the fitness levels to where he was prior to the 10 days isolation.”
