Injury concerns for Nottingham Forest ahead of Derby County clash

Matty Cash and Joe Lolley both gave Nottingham Forest injury worries during Wednesday night’s home clash with Bristol City.

The in-form defender went down under a heavy challenge from former Derby County man Andreas Weimann late in the first half, with the Austrian picking up a booking for his part in the challenge from referee Darren Bond.

Cash needed lengthy treatment off the pitch from the Forest medical staff at the Trent End, before coming back on the pitch with his head bandaged having been out of action for a couple of minutes.

That injury to Cash came during a truncated first half at the City Ground, which saw Sabri Lamouchi’s Forest labour against the Robins.

During the opening period, Lolley also appeared to be struggling, sitting down for a lengthy period with what appeared to be an ankle problem.

Right-back Cash had Forest’s best chance of a disappointing first half, seeing his fizzing effort pushed wide by substitute goalkeeper Dan Bentley, the former Brentford stopper who had replaced Niki Mäenpää earlier in the half.

Despite that blow before the interval, Cash was back out for the second half but Lolley did not, with the winger replaced by Nuno Da Costa.

Lamouchi will hope Lolley's injury is not serious and that he'll be able to take his place in the starting XI against Derby County at Pride Park on Saturday.

The Rams will come into the East Midlands clash in great heart, winning their fifth game in a row at play-off rivals Preston to move seventh in the Championship.
