Injury boost for Arsenal as forgotten defender steps up recovery

Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos is yet to feature in Unai Emery's first team squad this season due to injury, but Gunners fans could be seeing him out on the pitch sooner rather than later.

The 21-year-old has missed the start of the season with a groin injury, but has recently returned to action playing for the U21 team in the games against Leicester City and Wolverhampton Wanders.

A similar injury kept the Greece U21 international out of action for the majority of the 2018/19 season, with the defender only having made a total of seven first team appearances for the Gunners since his move from Greece in January 2018.

But, it now looks like the player is on the comeback trail, as he has posted a video of himself taking part in first team training ahead of the Premier League match against Bournemouth on Sunday.

The video shows the defender coming up against teammates including midfielder Matteo Guendouzi in what appears to be a training match where Mavropanos completes an impressive finish to curl the ball into the back of the net.

Along with the video, the player wrote the caption "step by step."

Arsenal fans will be hoping that the defender will be able to produce a similar finish in a Premier League game soon.
