Injury blow for Harry Brockbank as Bolton Wanderers defender set for spell on sidelines

Bolton Wanderers have been hit with an injury blow in defence after Ian Evatt revealed that Harry Brockbank is poised to be out for between six and eight weeks with a hamstring problem.

The 22-year-old Trotters academy product has become one of the first choice starters for Evatt since the start of October when he played in a back three alongside Ricardo Almeida Santos and Ryan Delaney.

He has played nine times in all competitions for Wanderers so far this campaign.

Brockbank has played in a back three, and also more recently as left wing back.

But he came off before the half-hour mark of last week's 1-1 draw against Mansfield Town with a tight hamstring and went for a scan to ascertain the severity of the injury picked up.

And speaking after the loss to Crewe Alexandra in the FA Cup, Wanderers head coach Evatt revealed bad news on Brockbank's injury.

He has suffered a split tear of his hamstring tendon and could be out for as along as the next eight weeks.

Evatt said: “It’s not ideal and not good. He’s got a split tear of his hamstring tendon. It looks like it’s going to be six to eight weeks."
