Injuries after crash closes road in Bristol with buses diverted

A Bristol road was closed in both directions this evening after a single-vehicle crash.

Avon and Somerset Police were called to the scene on Badminton Road, Downend, around 5.40pm, and closed the road to traffic.

Drivers in the area were affected, with traffic reported to be slow between Sandringham Avenue and Oakdale Road.

Three bus services which use the arterial route were also diverted.

On arrival, police found that the driver escaped with minor injuries.

Gowever, the vehicle was blocking the road and had to be recovered.

After the crash, traffic-watch website Inrix said: "A432 Badminton Road in both directions closed, slow traffic due to accident from Sandringham Avenue to Oakdale Road. Bus services 5, 48 and Y2 are affected."

The Badminton Road has now reopened to drivers following recovery of the vehicle.

Elsewhere in Bristol today, police were called to the scene of a two-car collision on the M5 around 5pm.

One lane of the motorway was closed while traffic officers assess the situation and Highways England has warned drivers to take care.
