Victorian woman charged with murder after husband dies from burns

A woman has appeared in a Melbourne court, charged with murdering her husband at their Geelong home on the weekend.

Angela Surtees, 33, was present during a brief hearing in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court.

She is charged with one count of murder over the death of her husband Daniel Surtees, 36, at their home in the Geelong suburb of Whittington.

Police said they were called to the home around 8:30pm on Saturday.

Mr Surtees was found with serious burns and was taken to hospital but died from his injuries on Sunday.

Ms Surtees nursed an injured arm through Tuesday's court hearing.

Her left arm was bandaged from the shoulder almost to the fingertips.

The case is being investigated by the arson squad as well as the homicide squad.

Ms Surtees did not apply for bail and will be back in court in May.
