Injured underage gaelic football players brought McDonald's in hospital by referee

Two players were left in the A&E after picking up serious injuries during an under-14s game in Mayo on Tuesday night, but they were lucky to have a very caring referee.

Two players came off with broken collar bones during a game between Kiltimagh and Breaffy GAA and they were both taken to hospital.

And afterwards, they were visited in hospital by referee Neil Cooney, who brought a McDonald's to the injured footballers.

The club took to Twitter to thank Cooney for his 'classy gesture', and it was reported by another user who appeared close to the situation that while the situation was 'not great', the boys will 'get over it'.

The Irish Mirror has contacted the club for comment.
