It was a case of no arm done as Irvine Vineburgh boxer Brooke Neely shrugged off injury to claim another big scalp on Saturday.
The 16-year-old defeated English schoolgirl champion Francis Coope in her own back yard to maintain an impressive unbeaten record south of the border.
Brave Brooke, of Stevenston, went into the fight in Birmingham carrying a muscle injury that left her unable to use her right arm for two weeks before the bout.
But a stunning performance saw a 4-1 split decision go in her favour as she once again showed her huge promise.
Coach Alec Mullen revealed he wanted Brooke to pull out the fight after she picked up the injury representing Scotland at the Zagreb Cup last month.
He said: “Brooke came back from Croatia complaining of a sore arm. Our physio had a look and discovered she’d torn a muscle between her elbow and her shoulder on her right arm.
“Brooke couldn’t use the arm in training at all in the two weeks leading up to the fight. We had to do all the sparring with her left hand.
“I said to Brooke last week that she had to pull out the fight but she insisted she wanted it to go ahead. She saw how big an opportunity it was and told me she’d get through it on adrenaline alone.

“It was a 50-50 fight on paper but Brooke won it comprehensively. Her movement and combinations were just too much for her opponent to handle.
“It just goes to show her character and determination that she would take on a fight like that with the injury she had.”
“It was a convincing win in the end. That’s six fights against English champions and six wins.”
Talented Brooke, a two-times British champion, splits her training between Irvine Vineburgh and the Boxing Scotland high performance centre in Bridgeton, Glasgow.
