Injured rugby player in wheelchair pushed over the try line by team-mates in moment that's moved fans

Despite being in a wheelchair due to injury, Robert Crory came on to score a try for Banbridge Barbarians - being helped over the try line by his team mates.

The clip was taken from the IMART 2022 tournament in Cork over the past few days. IMART stands for 'international mixed ability rugby tournament', where teams from all around the world come to compete for the winners' trophy. Banbridge Barbarians are in a group with Swansea Gladiators, Longlevens Griffins and URA Clan.

The match in the video was played between Banbridge of Ireland and Swansea Gladiators. The Gladiators went on to win 43-24 in the final Pool F fixture, but the result was upstaged by this incredible moment of sportsmanship by the Welsh and Irish sides.

Irish Rugby uploaded the touching clip to Instagram on Tuesday, and it had amassed almost 200,000 views and 11,000 likes in less than 24 hours.

Injured Robert received the ball from his team mate, and got going towards the try line with the help of two friends, before one of them nodded to the other lads to get involved too. Within seconds, a full driving maul was descending on the try line, with Robert at the centre of it.

The South Wales opposition displayed brilliant sportsmanship, diving in front of Robert as he was wheeled in for the score. Both teams threw up their arms in jubilation as Robert scored the try, with cheers rolling in from the crowd too. It is inspiring stuff only made possible by a simple game played with an egg-shaped ball.

Viewers were taken aback by the incredible sportsmanship. "Only in rugby. In sport, the rugby brotherhood never ceases to amaze me. Absolute class," explained one.

"What a lovely moment" said another.

With the pool games wrapped up, Swansea topped the group. However, this marvellous moment of sportsmanship has captured the hearts of spectators, and will be remembered vividly by those involved, with Robert's try serving as testament to the power of rugby.
