Injured opener Roy in doubt for BBL final

England opener Jason Roy is in doubt for Saturday's Big Bash League final because of an ankle injury that forced him to miss Perth Scorchers' knock-out final victory.

Roy was a late omission from Perth's XI for Thursday's tie against Brisbane Heat in Canberra.

Scorchers coach Adam Voges indicated that Roy, a key part of England's dominant white-ball team, rolled his ankle while celebrating victory in a warm-up game at Manuka Oval.

There is limited time for the 30-year-old to recover for his team's final against Sydney Sixers at the SCG, although Perth are still hopeful their prized recruit could be passed fit.

"Jase is obviously disappointed," Perth opener Liam Livingstone said.

"He was running around and turned his ankle, it can happen.

"We'll see how he pulls up in the next couple of days. Fingers crossed he's right.

"Whether he's in the team or not, Jase is a great man to have around ... brings a great vibe, fills a lot of boys with confidence."

Former Test opener Cameron Bancroft filled the void left by Roy's absence on Thursday night, finishing 58 not out during his first game since January 19.

"We've got other players who can come in. Bang did a great job," Livingstone said.
