Injured hill running airlifted to hospital in helicopter rescue near Loch Lomond

A hill runner had to be airlifted off a mountain by rescue teams amid a multi-agency operation.

Ochils Mountain Rescue Team (OMRT) and police were called to the West Lomond area this morning, Sunday February 3, after reports a person had hurt themselves.

A doctor was part of the team that was on hand to help while others brought a rescue stretcher.

A rescue coastguard helicopter was scrambled from Prestwick and the casualty was airlifted to hospital after being carried down the hill using the stretcher.

Their current condition of the severity of their injuries are not known at this time.

An OMRT spokesperson said: "Many thanks to the hill walkers who stopped to assist and kept the casualty warm until assistance arrived.

"As always we wish the casualty a speedy recovery."
