Injured deer causes early morning disruption on M74 motorway in Glasgow

An injured deer caused some early morning disruption on the M74 in Glasgow.

The alarm was raised just after 6:30am on the motorway near to Daldowie Crematorium.

Traffic Scotland issued a warning to drivers concerning the hazard at the city bound onslip to the motorway at Junction 3.

The traffic information site tweeted: "M74 hazard. We have reports of an injured deer on the N/B entry slip at J3a".

Thankfully, the deer was picked up by the The Scottish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) not long after and all lanes of the motorway reopened to traffic.

The incident led BBC Radio Scotland to warn drivers to be extra careful as, given the lack or normal traffic amid the coronavirus crisis, deer are coming further into the city and closer to the roadside edge.
