
A woman who was run down by a car while she was riding a bike in suburban Newcastle remains in John Hunter Hospital.
The 23-year-old was put in intensive care after she suffered a broken pelvis, rib fractures and partial de-gloving of her left arm in the incident at Jesmond on Saturday evening.
A Hunter New England Health spokesperson confirmed on Thursday that the cyclist remained in hospital and was in a stable condition.
University of Newcastle nursing student Abdulgafar Ayansina was charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a person with intent, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, common assault, attempting to take and drive conveyance without consent of owner and assaulting a police officer in the execution of duty without actual bodily harm.
Mr Ayansina is accused of trying to enter a NSW Ambulance vehicle as well as allegedly assaulting a female paramedic and a male police officer in the aftermath of the crash.
The 25-year-old remains before the courts.
He was denied bail at his most recent appearance earlier this week.
