Initiative launched to support families needing new school uniforms and supplies

This summer sees the launch of a new initiative to support families “in and around Airdrie” with school clothing, stationery and equipment.

A group of volunteers from the town have teamed up with the “Cool School Uniform” organisation in Coatbridge to form the “Airdrie Community School Uniform Bank”.

A spokesperson for the new group said: “We aim to reach families in need to help them equip their children for school, both primary and secondary.

“We are appealing to parents and carers to donate any unwanted uniform items to one of our drop-off points; the Airdrie retail park Tesco store; Scotcrest Uniforms; and Airdrie Citizens’ Advice Bureau.”

The spokesperson added: “We also accept donations like PE kits and outside jackets, but ask that they are laundered and in good condition.

“We would be really grateful if you would consider donating newly purchased items, such as underwear and shoes, and stationery; call us on 07895 519677 to find out more about our free and confidential service.”
