Initially favored, Saints now seen as 2.5-point underdogs at Jaguars

The New Orleans Saints were initially listed as narrow favorites on the opening line for their Week 6 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on BetMGM, but things have changed. After a week of bettors’ input and uncertainty around the status of key players like Saints running back Alvin Kamara (ankle) and Jaguars cornerback Jalen Ramsey (back), the line has shifted to favor Jacksonville by 2.5 points.

Additionally, the over/under has crept up to 44.5 points, suggesting a final score of roughly Jaguars 24, Saints 21. The Jaguars have played their best on offense when quarterback Gardner Minshew has lobbed passes up where only DJ Chark, his favorite receiver, has a chance to go get them. Oddsmakers must like the prospects of that connection continuing to give teams fits, including New Orleans.

Considering things started out with the Saints favored by just a single point, it’s unsurprising that odds (or a high volume of bets) have come in to favor the home team. With Drew Brees on the sideline and the Saints offense only have really taken off in one of Teddy Bridgewater’s three starts in his place, it makes sense for people to see potential for a Saints road loss on Sunday. And that’s only compounded by questionable confidence in Kamara’s ankle, which he tweaked in practice earlier this week.
