Ingrid Miley announces departure from RTE after 'too many years to count'

Industry and Employment Correspondent Ingrid Miley announced this morning that she is leaving her job at RTE.

The renowned journalist took to Twitter to announce the news of her final day with RTE.

Ingrid said she is “still excited to go to work on the last day”.

Qualified as a barrister since 2003, Ingrid Miley has an extensive career in journalism spanning decades.

She has worked with RTE in a number of different roles including investigative reporting with Today Tonight, Prime Time and the business programme Marketplace.

RTÉ has yet to confirm who will replace Ingrid as Industry and Employment Correspondent.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin was among those who paid tribute to the media giant and her work over the years.

“What a brilliant, award-winning broadcasting career,” Mr Martin wrote, attaching a clip of one of her interviews from 1987.

“As sharp then as you are today,” he added.

Ingrid jokingly replied with the hashtag #morto.

Many of her RTE colleagues and other industry professionals shared their congratulations and wished her the best of luck.

"Best of luck Ingrid and congratulations on all your work," 2FM's Louise McSharry replied.

Virgin Media's News Correspondent Richard Chambers wrote: "The very best of luck Ingrid! Congratulations on a brilliant run - you were a joy with work with anytime there was a late night at the LRC!"
