More details have been released by South Lanarkshire Council about how children will be going back to school next week.
Following an in-service day on Tuesday, August 11, schools across the region will open up to pupils on Wednesday, August 12, for the first time since the UK-wide coronavirus lockdown began in March.
Initially, kids will be returning on a phased basis but there is no blanket approach with each school given discretion to implement the best arrangement for them.
Parents and carers should be contacted by schools no later than Wednesday, August 5, with details of when their child will be attending next week.
All pupils will be back full time from Monday, August 17 following First Minister Nicola Sturgeon’s announcement last week.
A spokesperson for South Lanarkshire Council said: “Tuesday, August 11, will be an in-service day for our school staff, with children and young people returning initially on a phased basis from Wednesday, August 12.
“This will give everyone the opportunity to be welcomed back safely and is in line with Scottish Government advice. All children will return to school full time from Monday, August 17.
“Some further information will be issued generally on Monday, August 3, and each child’s school will be in touch with parents/carers by Wednesday, August 5, to let them know on which days each child should attend from Wednesday until Friday, August 12-14, before all children return on Monday, August 17.
“Nurseries are currently in the process of communicating start dates and settling-in arrangements with families.”
