If you work with statistics, evidence or information, infographics are a fantastic way to present complex data in an engaging way. During this hands-on masterclass with data visualisation expert Andy Pemberton, you’ll use your own data to identify a story, craft a compelling structure for your infographic, and write a persuasive headline. Suitable for beginners, the class will give you the tools and confidence to create your own data visualisations, whether you want to improve your presentations, or just create something beautiful.
Content
- Reading and identifying stories in datasets
- The importance of relevance, timeliness and exclusivity
- The science behind great infographics – including the ‘five-act structure’
- How to develop stories and emotion through infographics, online and offline
- Writing searchable headlines and persuasive ‘calls to action’
- Practical exercises – students break into small groups to create their own infographics using data they’ve brought to the class
- Q&A and opportunity for feedback on work carried out during the class
Please note this is not a design course – practical exercises will be carried out on pen and paper
