Influencer shares truth of 'perfect' social media snaps and how they're altered

A social media influencer has shared a series of before and after pictures to reveal the truth behind 'perfect' pictures.

Fitness fan Liz is a body positive star and often shares refreshing content that helps motivate her followers to get ‘real’ results, and now has hit out at the new 'fitspo' trend claiming it 'isn't a thing'.

She uploads images to Instagram, under the name @liz.bitesback, and now she's recreated popular poses to share the reality of the images, as the Daily Star reports.

The first image shows Liz in the morning, flexing, and looking taut, but the image on the right was taken later in the day and she's more relaxed - and despite wearing the same clothes she looks completely different.

What do you think about Liz's images? Let us know in the comments...

Liz captioned the images: "Girlll fitspo isn’t a thing!!! Good lighting + good angles + extreme diets = fitspo unfortunately...

"Let me ask you something right now – does anyone in real life actually look exactly like their pictures?

"99 per cent of the time, no. So why are you striving to be like something that isn’t realistic?

"We automatically have perceptions in our head that certain people should look a certain way like #fitspo (fitness inspiration).

In one image Liz looks toned and ripped, in the other she is more relaxed (instagram.com/liz.bitesback)

"They have abs, lean, toned, most pictures are photoshopped, most pictures are in the best lighting and where they are posing and to be honest most of them go to extremes to look like that.

"So why aim to be like that? Being healthy doesn’t have a look and even the #fitspo people don’t even look like that majority of the time.

"So if you are looking in the mirror today and you think oh why can’t I look like her or I just need to be a bit more toned to look good, please just know that you are good enough."

Thankful for Liz’s post, many fans fled the comments to applaud her for being so honest.

One person praised: "Keeping it real as always."

Another user added: "This literally helps and will continue to help me so much you are inspirational for these posts and everything you do. Thank you so much."

A third person voiced: "Literally! Being healthy doesn’t have a look."

Someone else cheered: "Speaking the truth. Most pretend like they look perfect 24/7 but that’s not reality. It’s so easy to use photoshop and use filters… We are all human and that’s the beauty of it."

And, a fifth person remarked: "Thank you for your honesty!! These tips and real things like this gives me more motivation than anything. We are all the same at the end of the day."
