Byron Bay influencer Ruby Tuesday Matthews has come for Triple M’s Lawrence Mooney after he was fined $1,000 for breaching COVID-19 restrictions in NSW.
Cast your minds back to last October, and you might remember Ruby Tuesday Matthews as the influencer who infamously held up a Jetstar flight because she was eating oysters. It was a whole thing and even copped the name #oystergate.
Well, that caused Mooney to absolutely rip into influencer culture and Matthews herself, saying she should go “shuck herself.”
But the radio host really took it too far when he said Matthews “prostitutes” herself for free products.
“To say I prostitute myself out for products is a complete lie. I get paid lol! To call me low hanging fruit and say I ‘whore myself out’ is a disgusting comment to make about anyone let alone a mother of two boys,” Matthews said at the time.
So these two clearly don’t like each other, which brings us to this latest update.
Mooney was recently fined for holidaying in Byron for two weeks, despite having worked in Sydney. The restrictions at the time required people to stay at home due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
“The man has been issued $1000 Penalty Infringement Notice (PIN) for breaching the stay at home direction,” a police statement from the time read.
Mooney insisted the breach was an honest mistake, saying that he didn’t realise the restrictions applied to him because he lives in the NSW Southern Highlands and works in the Sydney CBD.
“I know how serious this is and the impact lockdowns are having across the state and am very embarrassed by my misunderstanding and stuff up,” Mooney told Newscorp.
Matthews wasn’t having it, and uploaded a screenshot of the article about Mooney’s fine on her Instagram story.
“Wow from the guy who called me a number of horrible names and made me out to be ‘entitled’ on national radio (even when your end of the story is false),” she captioned the screenshot.
“Glad to see you are above society and its rules.”
