A Brazilian beauty influencer says she felt like someone had just stuck a knife into her eye after scratching off a chunk of her cornea with a fake nail.
Jessica Cardoso says suffered the "worst night of her life" when her evening out was ruined thanks to the painful accident when she was getting ready.
The brunette has shared images of her bandaged eye on Instagram for her 3.8 million followers on Tuesday.
Revealing the injury was caused by her tapered nails, she received plenty of sympathy after the hospital dash.
Cardoso, 30, said she scratched her eye with her talon-like extension while she was with her friend and fellow influencer Camila Pudim.

She explained: "I did my nails, which were tapered. I, not being very clever, went to scratch my eye and as I moved, my fingernail ripped out a bit of my cornea. That's what the doctor said."
The Brazilian beauty added: "I did not see anything on my nail so I thought I just scratched my eye. But according to the doctor, a piece really came off."
She was unable to open both her eyes for a while.
Cardoso told her Instagram followers: "It was the worst night of my life. When I tried to open one eye, the other eyelid started to strain. It felt like there was a knife hurting my eye."
She said she is following the doctor's recommendations and is currently taking eye drops and painkillers, adding that she should be able to see normally again after her treatment.
It comes as an influencer who was injured in a horror jet ski accident on her birthday has woken after being in a coma.
Polina Strelets, from Saint Petersburg, Russia, has regained consciousness after nearly a month following a crash with another jet ski rider while on holiday in Bali.
The 24-year-old was rushed to hospital after suffering a double leg fracture, injuries to the base of her spine and brain swelling.
