Influencer and RTE star James Kavanagh lifts the lid on how brother 'Coach' John Kavanagh is biggest mentor in life

Influencer and RTE star James Kavanagh lifted the lid on his relationship with brother 'Coach' John Kavanagh - admitting he has been his biggest mentor in life.

And while they both work in slightly different worlds - one in the MMA world as Conor McGregor’s coach and the other as a social media guru - James said they connected through both taking the road less travelled in life, despite their parents' worry.

Influencer and TV presenter James told Irish Daily Mirror: “My brother has been a mentor for a long time and even just going the road less travelled.

“I remember when he was going off to his MMA world, my parents were like, oh god, where is he going, he should choose a more solid job, or solid route."

The Dubliner, who shot to fame as a snapchat star, and now boasts almost 150k followers on Instagram added:

“Then I kind of did the same thing, I went off and wrote a cookbook with my boyfriend and I quit my job and I was very insecure in myself.

“But my brother kind of brother me through that.

“He was like no you are going to be fine and he definitely was a mentor in so many different ways.”

The popular martial arts coach, who is quite the online star himself, boasting over 650k followers online, welcomed his first child, Conall, with his fiancee Orlagh Hunter last year.

And proud brother James said it’s both weird and wonderful to watch his big brother as a father, admitting he never imagined the fighter leaving his bachelor days behind.

“It’s weird to see my brother with a child because I never really had him down to be a dad.

“He had a baby and he is so obsessed with the child and it is so cute to see and watch because he was never that kind of way when I was growing up.

“I thought he was going to be this bachelor forever. But he is really broody and really dad likes. And even his jokes have turned dad like.

“Just knocking out dad jokes these days.”

It appears he’s right, as the UFC coach swiftly swept McGregor’s shock defeat at the weekend away on Tuesday, posting an image of his partner, and baby Conall saying: “All that I need.”
