Fast-growing dental business Infinityblu has added its fourth practice in three years with the acquisition of Alyth Dental Care.
The buy-out deal, which was completed despite the lockdown, means the firm now serves more than 20,000 patients across practices in Pitlochry, Dunkeld, Crieff, Auchterarder and Alyth.
Infinityblu Dental Care and Implant Clinic was founded by former Scottish Young Dentist of the Year Chris Barrowman 12 years ago in Pitlochry.
The buy-out of the Alyth practice's Lothians-based owner and a property next door for expansion came to around £300,000. Barrowman plans to increase the current staff of seven and offer a wider range of services including invisible teeth braces and digital dentistry.
He has similar plans for the firm’s Auchterarder practice after buying a neighbouring property for £400,000. That will result in a business worth more than £4 million, employing 60 staff including operations, marketing and finance managers, and practice managers in each area.
Barrowman said: “In terms of growth, it has been a gradual and steady approach. We have always looked at opportunities to expand what we offer and have always reinvested in the business wherever possible. The good thing for us is that we have grown, largely though existing referrals.
“Obviously, it seems an unusual time to be taking over as we are in lockdown due to Covid-19 restrictions and unable to see patients face to face, but we’re offering virtual face-to-face consultations through our website to offer patients the closest we can get to the normal.
“In terms of the Alyth practice, it is a case of building on the excellent service the team currently provides. It will be the same team and same faces but new ownership and more to offer the customer.”
