Infected coronavirus patients to be isolated in Citywest instead of being hospitalised

Infected coronavirus patients will be isolated at facilities in Citywest instead of being hospitalised, the HSE has said.

A number of facilities are being established to act as isolation centres for those who have mild symptoms.

Liam Woods, the HSE’s National Director for Acute Operations said he hopes the first facility will open in the next day or two.

He told RTE’s Morning Ireland: “It’s to remember that most people who experience this condition will actually be relatively well and yes the HSE is establishing facilities.

“And an example would be out in Citywest where people can be isolated who may not need hospitalisation but may not be able to isolate sufficiently in a home or other environment.

"There’s a range of options being developed and coming into play across the country for that.

“For the likes of Citywest, it’s a facility for people who need isolation but are relatively well."
