Infamous Bible John murders turned into new show that's coming to Ayrshire

The harrowing Bible John murders are the focus of a new show coming to Ayrshire later this year.

Dancing with the Devil is set to transport audiences back to 1960s Glasgow where the Barrowland Ballroom was the backdrop to rhythm and romance.

But lurking in the smoky shadows was a serial killer as generations of young folk danced the night away.

More than 50 years on from the infamous murders carried out by the mysterious killer, this new drama unpicks the social attitudes of the time and features a soundtrack from the era featuring The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Dusty Springfield and many more.

The show comes to Kilmarnock's Palace Theatre on March 2 and will be at Irvine's Harbour Arts Theatre on February 24.

While the Irvine date has sold out, tickets still remain for Kilmarnock.

Directed by Paul Moore, the creator wanted to look at the murders in a different way from their portrayal over the decades.

He told Glasgow Live: “It’s a musical drama, which I'm sort of hesitant to call it.

“I think the connotation of musical drama is something different - I suppose it’s a drama with music.

“Recently, I had to reply to a few people who thought that given the subject matter a musical about Bible John was distasteful so I had to explain what it really was.

“Music can take you to a place - very quickly, and given that this was over 50 years ago that’s kind of why we’re doing it.”

Tickets, priced at £18 plus £2 booking fee, are available from East Ayrshire Leisure's website.
