After a standout season which saw him crowned the club’s player of the year, Forest always faced a battle to hang on to him.
But they held firm to get a decent deal, turning down more than one previous offer from Villa, as well as from Sheffield United.
Here’s what Reds supporters have had to say about Cash’s move.
Cash is now due to have a medical with Villa, ahead of becoming their first summer signing.
A product of the Nigel Doughty Academy, the 23-year-old has amassed more than 140 appearances in the Garibaldi and scored 13 goals.
He had already been the subject of considerable interest in the January transfer window, including from AC Milan.
The Italian giants are believed to have continued to track his progress, while Fulham and West Ham United were also said to be keen this summer.
A popular member of the dressing room, he had also developed into a fine full-back under the guidance of Sabri Lamouchi last term.
