Grangemouth residents are being warned over "mass flaring" as maintenance work starts on the Forties Pipeline at INEOS.
Bosses say that there could be 18 hours of controlled elevated flaring at the Kinneil site from tomorrow, Thursday April 21.
In a statement, the petrochemical plant said: "Our teams at Kinneil will be undertaking a piece of planned maintenance work tomorrow, Thursday April 21.
"Local residents and those in the vicinity of the Kinneil site may notice short spells of controlled elevated flaring over an 18 hour period whilst they complete their work.
"We will do our utmost to reduce the level and duration of this flaring and apologise for any inconvenience.
"We are committed to informing our local community and those who live and work nearby of our activities that may result in flaring."
